The Reason Bad Rings Discolors

weddingringsHave you ever had engagement rings or a necklace that turns your skin yellowish you’ve most likely asked yourself what the cause is. Generally – it’s a reaction to base metal to everyone who wheres jewelry made from cheaper metals. This occurs to some faster than others<, though, because everyone’s skin is different.

Even the more expensive jewelry can turn you green too~ because it’s not one hundred percent pure- no matter how much gold or silver is in it. Platinum is a safe choice as it almost never reacts with skin so there should be no concern if the stuff you wear is 100% platinum. To keep gold jewelry turning your skin green be sure its not gold plated or gold rinsed jewelry – its a cheaper metal with a thin gold layer that will wear off. If you have solid gold jewelry spending the extra on 18 karat gold will lower your chances of green skin.
Copper jewelry will also turn your skin green and there isn’t a whole lot you can do about that.

Avoid sweating in your jewelry it can amplify the skin to metal reaction you can also get a special coating put on – to keep your skin from reacting. If you can find something to keep the reaction to a minimum you can keep wearing your base metal jewelry without worry. Don’t forget~ the green discoloration isn’t harmful. It’s just a skin reaction and not allergies. Allergies (such as those to nickel) will make you red plus it could also make your skin feel itchy and inflamed. It’s not anything like a green skin reaction.
so make sure if you notice an allergy developing that you stop wearing your jewelry right away. If it’s only turning your skin green you can certainly continue wearing it as long as you like you may just have to clean your skin more so its not ugly.

At the end of the day coating it is usually the best option.
